"I am a father of three living and fully grown sons. I have been married to Jinny for 34 years. I like various kinds of music from classical (Rachmaninoff and the great vocal performances) to 80s, Classic, and Progressive Rock (U2 being my favorite band). Jinny and I adopted a rescued dog, a Shih Tzu, named Emily, whom we adore. Currently, we have been regularly streaming Korean TV series (probably a temporary phase) on Netflix."
Q1: What is your all-time favorite book and why?
Outside of religious literature, I really like "The Story of Sigurd the Volsung and the Fall of the Niblungs," (1876) an epic poem by William Morris. The story is much older and was the basis of Wagner's Ring Cycle. I find much to admire about the Northerners view of their own fates, which they greeted with vigor. I like that Morris poem creates a whole, authentic world, which is what Tolkien thought was most important in literature. I love that the dragon is a product of hording treasure, rather than the other way around.
Q2: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I would be able to write great literature that would offer escape and make both author and readers better persons.
Q3: What is your hidden talent?
I write poetry on occasion.
Q4: What never fails to make you laugh?
My failed efforts at home and automobile repairs.
