Julia Pluta
Faculty Services & Collections Development Librarian
Julia is a full-time librarian and forever student, who is addicted to learning pretty much everything. She actually enjoys math, wishes she was better at music and art, and loves to write fiction and poetry. She once tried to run a blog where she read 100 books in a year, but burned herself out after 12 books in January. She has written four "trunk novels" and has contributed to a handful of third-party D&D books.
Q1: What is your all-time favorite book and why?
Redshirts, by John Scalzi
"At first blush, this is by-the-numbers parody of Star Trek and similar shows, but it then gets a bit meta and then grows exponentially more meta as it goes. The three codas, which are the emotional heart of the book, really spoke to me at the time I first read it, and I still cry during the second and third codas every time I reread it."
Q2: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Teleportation. There's so many things to see in the universe and it takes so long to travel to any of them. It would be nice to just *be* there.
Q3: What is your hidden talent?
I have a shockingly high tolerance for spicy foods.
