International Student Resources

Using the Library

A new international student coming to study in the USA faces many challenges. The UMKC Libraries have many tools to help you fulfill your library research needs.

If you need to ask a research question, or need help on how to find a book or an article you need, you can call us at (816) 235-1526, email, or simply come to the First Floor Service Desk in Miller Nichols Library for help.

Borrowing Library Materials

Borrowing library materials at UMKC may be a little different than it is at your home country's libraries. For example, you can borrow 1,999 items from the the library at one time. You just need to show your student ID and you can check out library materials or claim your Interlibrary Loan-requested item. It is also worth noting that undergraduate and graduate students have different loan periods in borrowing library materials. For more information, please check the links below to make full use of library borrowing privileges.

Library Technology

The library is a resource center; it also is a study center. It has two computer areas: one on the First Floor (the Information Commons) which is run by the Library. The other one is managed by UMKC Information Services and is located on the Second Floor. The entire building is supplied with wireless Internet access. It is an ideal place for you to study and do your homework.
