IEEE is a major SDO (standards development organization) that also serves as a source of information and resources on standards, their applications, and their impact on designing new products, processes, and services.
Recognizing the important role standards play within the engineering, technology and computing fields, IEEE is providing resources to help introduce and teach undergraduate and graduate students, as well as professors and educators, about technical standards. Knowledge of standards can help facilitate the transition from classroom to professional practice by aligning educational concepts with real-world applications.
Provides three services - 1) GUIDANCE and quick research in response to queries on national/global standards and current or proposed technical regulations, 2) REFERRALS to standards-developing organizations; government agencies; technical experts; and providers of translation services, conformity assessments, and related services, and 3) PUBLICATIONS on a range of topics, including guides to compliance for specific industries, conformity assessment basics, etc.
