The capstone project may take the form of an in-depth literature review, implementation of research or quality improvement, education, or advocacy. Regardless of format, an evidence-based approach is required, which includes critical appraisal of relevant literature. Student deliverables include a written structured paper (with abstract) and an oral summation/presentation of the project.
If the student chooses a literature review, it should be modeled after a systematic literature review. Although that is not the expectation, for some topics and especially motivated students it would be feasible.
The PA Capstone projects will be published in the MOspace Institutional repository for creative and scholarly works and other resources created by faculty, students, and staff at the University of Missouri--Columbia and the University of Missouri--Kansas City. Writing should be at the level appropriate for publication. Publication beyond MOspace is not expected but is certainly possible. Students are encouraged to consider publication of their final paper.
