Library Instruction

UMKC Libraries offers face to face and online classes in developing the information skills needed to locate, analyze, and evaluate information. Want some examples of library instruction?

“I would like library instruction focused on the library resources available for doing background research on clinical topics..”

"This is a business class where students create business plans. They need help on doing market research and industry analysis using UMKC library resources for their projects.”

"Students will be doing a research topic related to Latin American culture. Librarian would familiarize students with resources available to them and basics of research."

"I'd like a librarian to come speak to my class about fake news. I want them to know how to spot fake news or how they can recognize the difference between a reliable and unreliable website.”

"I need a Panopto recording that covers library resources for graduate students. Show students how to find various resources, conduct lit searches, use Zotero, etc.”

Librarian Led Discussion

  • You can request a librarian be enrolled into your Canvas course. The custom Librarian role provides a way for instructors to give a librarian access to their course to provide research support.
  • By creating a discussion board, librarians can interact with students to answer research related questions or moderate a discussion. Work with the librarian to determine the best time frame for embedding a discussion in your course.
