The University Libraries Can Help!

The University Libraries would be happy to submit your manuscript for you. (Please note, proper copyrights must be obtained before asking the Libraries for assistance).

Please follow the instructions below.

Send to Peggy Mullaly-Quijas (mullaly-quijasm@umkc.edu) the following information:

  • PI Author name and email
  • Title of the journal
  • Title of the manuscript
  • Grant number (full alpha numeric number)
  • Manuscript files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TIFF, JPEG, PDF, etc)
  • Supplemental data or images associated with the manuscript
  • Embargo period as specified by publisher and any other known publisher instructions
  •  The PI will then receive two emails from NIHMS.

The first email will be titled “Approve PDF Receipt.” The PI will be prompted to review the PDF to verify that it is the correct manuscript and assign the embargo period as stipulated by the publisher (maximum of 12 months).

NIHMS will convert the PDF to a version suitable for viewing on the web. After conversion is complete, a second email titled “Approve Web Version” will be sent to the PI.  According to a source (I cannot recall where or who) it should be about one week to ten days before the second email is sent once the PI approves the PDF version.

The PI must respond to both emails as part of the approval process of the compliance requirement.

Peggy will send the PI the NIHMS reference number (NIHMS ID) for use on NIH reports. She will send the PubMed Central Reference Number (PMCID) when available.
